Finding My Path: A Founder's Story

Corporate Roots

In my past life (before entrepreneurship), I worked for large well-known advertising and media companies, working and thriving in the corporate marketing world, wearing multiple hats and building expertise across global advertising, digital media, ad tech, and business development.

I found deep satisfaction in sitting at the hub of cross-functional teams—connecting sales, marketing, and leadership while delivering results that directly impacted our bottom line.

This is where I learned how Fortune 500 companies in a variety of verticals from CPG, Travel, Retail, Automotive, and understand their customers, advertise and market to scale.

My teams worked on high-level marketing strategy from consumer insights, buyer psychology, media buying, creative strategy and advertising on an international scale.

The Unexpected Pivot

Then came 2020. Like millions of others, I found myself facing unexpected layoffs as the pandemic reshuffled the corporate landscape. What initially felt like devastation quickly transformed into an opportunity to reimagine my professional identity.

With time to reflect, I realized my passion for meaningful commerce and supporting artisans in developing economies. I channeled my marketing expertise into launching an e-commerce store focused on fair trade, artisan-crafted goods. I built the brand from scratch, creating authentic storytelling campaigns that connected conscious consumers with skilled craftspeople across the globe.

Lessons in Entrepreneurship

The eCommerce venture opened my eyes to both the challenges and rewards of business ownership. When an opportunity arose to acquire an established business, I took the leap—perhaps too quickly. Despite thorough market research and financial modeling, the acquisition didn't unfold as planned.

The experience was humbling but invaluable. I gained first-hand understanding of the high stakes decisions business owners face, the importance of thorough due diligence, and the emotional resilience required when things don't go according to plan.

During this time I also put in hours working 1:1 with hundreds of eCommerce stores owners as a strategy coach. I’ve spent 800+ hours diving deep into the unique challenges of small businesses. I can see what your business needs, where it is thriving and where it needs support.

Coming Full Circle

Through these experiences—corporate success, pandemic pivot, e-commerce launch, 1:1 coaching and business acquisition—I discovered where my talents truly shine: helping women business owners develop strategic marketing approaches that drive sustainable growth.

Today, I've come full circle, offering fractional CMO services to women-led service and eCommerce businesses. My journey through corporate marketing excellence, pandemic adaptation, eCommerce entrepreneurship, and acquisition challenges has equipped me with a unique perspective. I understand both the strategic marketing landscape and the very real pressures of being in charge of all facets of the business.
