Are you a multipassionate entrepreneur struggling to trust your own decisions? Discover how personality tests can help you reconnect with your inner wisdom and find your Zone of Genius. By exploring tools like the Enneagram, Sparketype, and Human Design, you can gain valuable insights into your strengths and motivations, boosting your confidence and clarity in business. This post offers practical advice on leveraging these assessments to align your entrepreneurial journey with your unique gifts and achieve a more fulfilling work experience.

As solopreneurs and self-employed, multi-passionate individuals, we often face a common challenge: a lack of trust in our inner wisdom. This usually stems from a cycle of challenges, failures, and an ongoing search for solutions, leading us to lose faith in our decisions and gut instincts. Despite having a deep well of expertise, skills, and unique personality traits suited for business ownership, we may struggle to reconnect with our true Zone of Genius. Only you can determine the right path forward for yourself and your business, but how do you do that when self-trust is lacking?

Trust Your Wisdom: How Personality Tests Are A Gift For The Multi-passionate Entrepreneur

One of the best and most unexpected ways I've come to better understand and accept my unique entrepreneurial spirit is through personality tests and typing tools. I’ve tried many over the years, including those given to me in past jobs, such as Myers-Briggs and DiSC. More recently, I've discovered other intriguing personality and motivation typing systems that are particularly helpful for the often misunderstood creative, multi-passionate entrepreneur. These tools can help regain confidence and articulate our unique gifts to ourselves and the world.

Here are my top 3 recommendations for personality tests that have helped me understand my gifts and trust my personal choices as a business owner:

    1. Enneagram

I have recently become a huge fan of the Enneagram personality typing system. (more of that story here) I have recently become a huge fan of the Enneagram personality typing system. Once I understood my own Enneagram number and those of close family members, friends, co-workers, and clients, I saw the true value of this system. It’s an excellent tool for understanding not only ourselves but also our interpersonal relationships. The Enneagram identifies nine distinct types, each characterized by core motivations, fears, and worldviews. Understanding your dominant type offers insights into your subconscious drivers, strengths, and areas for growth.

    2. Sparketype Archetype Assessment

Sparketype is a test-based system with an accompanying book. I enjoyed how the descriptions of each type are tailored to our work lives and motivations. It acknowledges our multi-dimensional nature and helps us identify both strengths and weaknesses. Insights from the type that was my anti-type—where I don’t enjoy being—were particularly useful for identifying and articulating my preferences.

    3. Human Design

Human Design is the latest system I encountered through a messaging course. It’s the most “Woo-Woo” of the types because it relies on a graph using your birthdate, birth time, and birthplace, rather than a quiz. While complex and layered, I found that it offered valuable insights about myself, although I still prefer the Enneagram.

    4. Meyers Briggs

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a formal test commonly used by big companies. It’s based on four dichotomies:

Extraversion vs. Introversion (E vs. I)

Sensing vs. Intuition (S vs. N)

Thinking vs. Feeling (T vs. F)

Judging vs. Perceiving (J vs. P)

    5. DiSC

I’ve also come across DiSC at a past company, which is often used to build balanced teams by understanding team dynamics when it comes to work behaviors.

The acronym DiSC stands for Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness. This assessment tool focuses mostly on behaviors, as opposed to traditional personality traits. An individual’s DiSC profile will depict where they rank on these four scales, portraying qualities like assertiveness, persuasiveness, patience, and precision.

    Next Steps

If you identify as a multi-passionate and feel the desire to have answers to WHY you make the business choices you do, I would highly recommend starting with the personality typing system that resonates with you. Ask friends or business peers for their recommendations.

If you are interested in further discussing Enneagram and how your numbers “show up” in your business choices, I would love to work with you. I can bring another POV and apply your personality test findings to help you create your personalized, Sustainable marketing plan and strategy, that leaves you feeling calm, in control and working with your gifts to achieve your goals.
